Having just had a horrendous drive in to work this morning I'll join in punch laugh

Thats with virtually brand new tyres too. Ice is slippy no matter what condition your rubber is in rolleyes

Yes and it doesn't matter if you have two or four wheel drive either, I've picked up the pieces from plenty of (formerly) smug 4x4 drivers who didn't understand simple physics: if all four wheels are on ice you no longer have any control over your destination laugh

Four wheel drives can be worse on ice than a 'normal' car due to their massive weight - my old man drives a discovery and when he first got it he wanted to test how it handled in snow, so headed off to a big, empty snow covered car park and threw it into a turn, except it didnt trun, just when skidding straight on due to its weight shocked At least he then knew what to expect and drove accordingly

I dont rate the coupe in snow/ice - too much weight over the front

You want a light car - my old Fiat Strada was amazing on snow, you could easily get it going sideways whilst still being in control laugh

And back on topic - my car was fine this morning once as the sleet had melted most of the snow!

It is hard to understand how a cemetery can raise burial rates and blame it on the cost of living

My little sei started first time this morning and gave me no problems getting to work at all!! Was roasty after a few mins aswell.

Really bad snow here off the main roads, but once onto a class/ m/ways no problems.

well my car hadnt turned a wheel since sunday.....it resembled a small, incredibly svelte igloo this evening under several inches of frosty snow....still started first time and heated up pretty darn quick.....

i usually use the smart car in the snow cos it goes anywhere and has great traction, but we are expecting blizzards tonight and as il be driving home at 3 am, im takin the car with the furnace like heater!!!

This mornign was one of the many times I have been glad I now drive volvo S60 T5. I went out 5 mins before I left the house and started it up pressed the rear demist button, the defrost button on the dash and just for good measure the heated seat button. Popped back in the house and had my Weetabix. Came back out and the car was all defrosted and the seat was warm.

Now driving on the streets near me was a nightmare. As I pulled tot he top of the street a bus passed and was using the curbs to help steer. It was solid ice from curb to curb with only a slightly crunchy top.

Having the geartronic version I selected winter mode and headed off. Not a slip or slide or even slightly out of control moment despite my attempt at handbrake turns on an empty street the stability control applies brake and throttle to steer you straight again it is absolutely stunning. Just to prove it to myself I turned it off and did the same again and did a very neat pirouette mid road. lol.

That said physics still apply so steady away all the way o work. The coupe I always found to be fairly good in the snow due to the LSD but I had to turn the boost back to base to make it drivable. If you come on boost in any gear your saying hello to the curb.

My truck at work however has neither DTSC or ABS or heated seats and was a bitch to drive all day
