Four wheel drives can be worse on ice than a 'normal' car due to their massive weight - my old man drives a discovery and when he first got it he wanted to test how it handled in snow, so headed off to a big, empty snow covered car park and threw it into a turn, except it didnt trun, just when skidding straight on due to its weight

At least he then knew what to expect and drove accordingly
I dont rate the coupe in snow/ice - too much weight over the front
You want a light car - my old Fiat Strada was amazing on snow, you could easily get it going sideways whilst still being in control

And back on topic - my car was fine this morning once as the sleet had melted most of the snow!
