Just got a fresh 12 months MOT, 6 months tax, inc a new cat as it failed on emissions first time, new tires, backbox, and lots of other minor bits. £700 is the bill for the coupe this month and i have only just been paid Spent well over 2.5k on it in the last year of owning it too. When the car is in such good working order with fresh MOT it makes it so tempting to sell it, but as i know from experience, i'll never get that money back and i will just be back for another one. The coupe is a bit of an addiction, having them for 3 years, first one when i was 18 iv not found anything that could ever replace it. It's so tempting to just settle for something cheaper so i have no financial worries, but i can't kick the addiction Especially now my insurance has halved from £1500 to £760 when i turned 21, i think the positives just about outweigh the benefits. I know you will all advise me to keep the car, its a Coupe forum after all, its just nice knowing i'm not on my own with all these big expenses just to keep an "old fiat" on the road.

thats more like it Submariner. I'd be more than happy with that I agree Sam, I've just gotten into the car too soon at a young and expensive age, it becomes so normal when you have had them for 3 years, you forget its a 220bhp sports car, and thats got to come with a steep cost. If I wasn't commuting 60 miles a day using it everyday it wouldn't be as obviously expensive to keep.

i got rid of mine earlier this year and have regretted it ever since! i tried to buy it back but it had gone, so ended up after spending shed loads on my old coupe, getting rid for next to nothing only to end up getting another one that isn't even on the road!!
keep it and enjoy it, at least you know what bits you have replaced and probably have an idea of what needs fixing, rather than getting a bag of new trouble

Makes no sense to spend money getting it right then sell it so someone else can benefit.
If you think you've got a lemon that will never be right I could understand it but chances are you've done the big jobs and you'll get a few years of fairly steady motoring from it now (until the modification bug bites of course :p).
The only reason I'd sell in your position would be if I was bored of the car and wanted something different.

I know you will all advise me to keep the car,
Sell it! I had 3 20VT's over 6 years and don't regret getting rid of my last one. The final straw for me was blown Turbo seals followed less than a month later by a failed Crank sensor It just felt like I was throwing money at it and then waiting for the next huge bill to come along

I think the only time I would sell it, is if someone on here wanted to look after it for mabye a year or 2 and then I can get it back off them after that time, when I'm in a better position to run one

I know exactly where you're coming from dan, sometimes i think should i just sell it as once you've fixed one thing, something else crops up lol (bit of a headache) and theyre cheap to buy but flamin expensive to run! If it wasnt for the looks, noise, spec as standard, thumbs up from other drivers, this club, the feeling it gives you when driv.....oh so thats why ive still got one???? lol What would you rather have: Empty Bank Balance and waking up to this each morning: http://liveimages.carsales.com.au/duc/car/private/3845585.jpgOr Healthy Bank balance and wake up to this: http://www.businessweek.com/autos/autobeat/archives/107-toyota-corolla.jpgonly you can decide that one?
I'll be back Alor Blue Seat Leon FR 180 atm

my coupe stands me at about £8,000 including the price and thats in about a 18months and i still need a turbo and the rad looks like it may need doing soon.
i pay around £750 for my insurance and thats for my coupe and my croma and i'm 34 in a couple of months, so i'm with you on the cost of running the car mate.
i've only done 3000 miles in the coupe in the whole time i've had it.
