I did an oil and air filter change today and replaced the oil. Undertray came off easily, oil filter and sumpplug likewise. Filled it up with oil and thoughtr that was quick. Turned the engine on and it soundd like a diesel!!!
Turned it off to see 5 lites of oil on the ground!!
On investigation, the old oil filter ruibber seal had stayed on the engine and when I put the new filter on it must have created a hole for the oil to leak ouit of!!!
Re did the job and another 5 lit-res of oil, car going OK
Phew!!!!

It's bad enough; now he's got to clean up five litres of 10-40 before the missus gets home!

Yep, lol laugh

Did it years ago with an Alfa V6, I think it was a 166.

Left the seal on, didn't realise and then loads of oil pouring out from underneath.

The oil filter was a right horrible, awkward one to get to as well.

Only took me the once to learn my lesson laugh

Never had any of these issues but I did once sell a newly reconditioned engine to a friend and stressed, several times, that the oil pressure sensor wasn't fitted.......you can guess what's coming next can't you? laugh

To make matters worse, he was fitting the engine into his newly resprayed show car sick

Hmmm, interestingly he hasn't been in touch for years now! laugh

Been there too when me and my mate changed the oil on my Uno Turbo - they were cracking little cars, anyone had the joy of owning one?? (the owner of the driveway wasn't too chuffed at the time smile )

Me too - both mk2's. Loved them. Had two Punto GT's after that - not impressed at all. Got rid quick and moved on to the coop.
