has anyone ever tried .......if it is possible, to mount a rear strut brace on top of the rear shock mount turrets, the same idea as the front strut brace ?

Paul, the trailing arm setup of the coupe means a rear brace between the two dampers would be pointless, there is no need to stiffen the mountings as they dont move.

The only way to stiffen that area would be to make a lower brace similar to the front lower brace to fasten between the rear subframe mounting points but the rear subframe is quite substantial as it is.

If you look at the picture there Paul, any lateral loading of the rear trailing arm would cause the subframe to flex, however the tube running through the centre is seriously heavy duty.
A brace between No1 and the same point at the other side would prevent any flex but where do you draw the line with bracing up the chassis ?

Fitting a cage is the best thing you can do to stiffen up the flexible coupe shell.
