Scrapping - what bits to remove? #1489663

After losing compression in cyl 1 a few weeks back it's not viable to repair my 97 20VT given the other things that need doing.

Coupe for sale as a whole

No-one seems to want to give me more than 200 for it as it is so I'm going to cash in the tax and get someone to take it away. By taking a few bits of I should make more money out if it anyway.

I'm going to take the turbo, front calipers and the battery off.

Are there any other smallish bits that are worth whipping off? what do people need?

Thanks

I'd strip it if you have the space.

Door cards, full interior, steering wheel, gaiters, center console, hand brake console, dash buttons, clocks, pillar trim (internal and external).

Moving to the engine bay I'd whip off thermostat if new-ish, ICV, coil packs, injectors and fuel rail, coil cover, rocker cover if not cracked, air box, filter, all boost hoses, MAF, fog pods, main headlights, front grille (if not broken).

Manifold if in good nick and fancied a mucky job.

Exterior I'd be whipping out the side indicators, all rear lights (only two bolts each), fuel cap, all badges (20v, turbo), alloys and tyres.

Refurb and sell all that, you'll have clawed back a nice amount of dosh.

This is the thing, I don't have much storage space otherwise I'd take the bonnet and bootlid!

Don't really want to spend much time taking bits off, turbo and brake removal is a good 2 hrs for me anyway.

I've added coil packs, EBV, maf and headlights to my list though, thanks.

If you are wanting to make a bit of cash I would seriously consider removing the injectors aswell, you will have no problem selling them.

The only tricky bit is removing the fuel rail bolts ( they can can be a bit tight and access is a bit of a pain, but not so if the rocker cover is removed first). If the injectors are all serviceable you can expect £15-25 each at least. smile

eBay has full sets up for sale £150+.
